On October 11, 2018, a grant was provided to For Pete’s Sake Cancer Respite Foundation (https://takeabreakfromcancer.org/). The organization is located in Plymouth Meeting, Pennsylvania and works with oncology professionals at leading cancer centers to create respite vacations, providing the gift of time to address the trauma that accompanies a cancer diagnosis. Qualified patients their caregivers and children receive a one-week stay in beautiful accommodations located in Florida, the Poconos, Maine, West Virginia and the Jersey Shore. Families receive a cash stipend, journals and inspirational materials related to the cancer journey to encourage communications. For Pete’s Sake helps 160 families travel each year and provides support to approximately 1,000 people annually. The grant from Quest for the Best will be used to improve efficiencies of For Pete’s Sake service capacities and to promote collaboration support through the creation of an online nomination and tracking portal for the respite program.
