St. Mary’s Franciscan Shelter – August 2016 – Bathroom renovations

St. Mary’s Franciscan Shelter, (http://www.stmarysfs.org/) a refuge for homeless families of the Chester County area, meets the basic needs of these families by providing a facility that has warm beds to sleep in, nutritious family meals and hot showers in a safe and drug free environment.   However, after having served families continuously since 1987, the bathroom facilities have become outdated and in need of renovation.  Quest for the Best® is pleased to provide a grant to assist in the renovation of two bathrooms at the Shelter to ensure safe and comfortable use by the residents. Sr. Bernadette Dougherty, Sister of St. Joseph and Executive Director of the Shelter recently  provided us with this interesting update on the renovations:  “When demolition began on Monday August 1, 2016 – we found floor insulated with newspapers…. Monday, August 1, 1977!!!  (Evening Bulletin and Evening Phoenix!!)   Same day, same date, 39 years later!”
