We are excited to announce a grant for Horizons at Cristo Rey High School, a program which provides a summer and year-round academic enrichment to elementary school children from North Philadelphia. This programming stems summer learning loss and prepares children for competitive high schools such as Cristo Rey. The mission of Horizons at Cristo Rey is to improve the life trajectory of students from underserved communities across Philadelphia by instilling in them the joy of learning, the skills for success, and the inspiration to realize their dreams. Horizons at Cristo Rey will serve 50 kindergarten, first and second graders this summer.
Cristo Rey Philadelphia High School, which is a college preparatory, Catholic school for students of all faiths, nurtures and challenges young people to recognize and realize their full potential as they learn to love others, grow in their faiths, and serve the common good.
Cristo Rey High School is one of four finalists (chosen from 260 applicants) for the Wawa Heroes Award of $50,000 and recognition during the Welcome America celebration in Philadelphia on July 4.
